Honeycombs are fairly flat, but the traditional, idealized representation of a beehive is somewhat conical and may help drive this reanalysis. The continuing popularity of hits by early 1970s soul trio Honey Cone doesn’t hurt, either. Examples:
We accompanied the honey hunters by boat to a remote part of the jungle and then followed them into the dense jungle in search of honey cones.

Form the hexagonal honey cone made by bees to the spiral helix of DNA which is the basic code of all life forms, amazing geodesic structures and architectural forms pervade throughout the natural world.

And once read a ‘rhyme’ by Black sharecroppers:
The young bee makes the honey cone
The young bee gets the honey
The Negro grows the cotton and corn
The White man gets the money.

Now if a bee keeper wants to be able to cut up the honey cone once the bees have drawn out the wax
walls and filled the cone with honey, he will use a foundation that is pressed from Bees Wax.
