When I was a kid, the Campbell Soup Co. used to advertise their soups as ‘chock full’ of ingredients; their vegetable soup was chock full of vegetables, their chicken soup was chock full of chicken bits, etc. I always heard it as ‘chop full,’ i.e., they chopped things up and dropped them into the soup.
