Chow Maine

This is not an eggcorn, since as far as I know, the people of that state have no particular mania for Chinese food. It’s a version of a Lehman’s term, I think, this time for a totally opaque foreign borrowing. Chow mein 炒面 is rendered phonetically as ChÇŽomiàn. The chow part is “fried”, and mein is “noodles”. Chow is a good candidate for hidden eggcornhood, however.

My favorite animal is a cow and my favorite food is chicken chow maine.
Personal profile

Chow Maine would not go amiss accompanied by some general toss chicken and charred sui pork with chop soy
