"sophomoric" for "sophomore"

“Sophomoric” means “conceited and overconfident of knowledge but poorly informed and immature…” or “lacking in maturity, taste, or judgment…”. I have lately regularly heard a band’s second album referred to as their “sophomore effort”. Combine the two and you get:

When it comes to music, words may sometimes fall short when describing the emotional elevation or over-achieving quality present within a song. Mutoid Man takes it to the next level with their sophomoric effort ‘War Moans’...

Not an eggcorn, but an amusing substitution. A bonus in this example is the writer’s use of “over-achieving” as a laudatory description. Apparently all that heavy metal head-banging has a deleterious effect on the language center of the brain.
