"due" for "do"

This substitution is in the Eggcorn Database and has been mentioned more than once in the Forum, but I think it’s usually dismissed as a mere misspelling—and appropriately so. However, I recently encountered an example the context of which suggests to me that it’s an eggcorn in this case.

And that still does not due him justice.

The very familiar notion of justice being due someone suggests to me that this example may be an actual eggcorn rather than a mere misspelling.

Re: "due" for "do"

Since it is very common to use any noun as a verb, why not do it with adjectives, too? I like your reasoning here, Dixon.
