winesnap << winesap

I was reading this CBC article today and came across the word “winsnap” replacing “winesap.” There are other examples of this substitution on the web. I’m guessing that tart, snappy taste of the apple has enticed speakers into this venality. Granted, the names of the 7000+ cultivars of apples display a fair share of whimsy.
