mind field - mine field

this is my first eggcorn!!!!

i was writing about unreported environmental issues in Ireland and nearly wrote a “mind field” of cases….. guess it sort of makes sense, like a large unchartered landscape of thought?

only heard about eggcorns last night so I’ve been wracking my brain (also: raking my brain) to try and think of some…. :)

An example today by @lwantsahusky on Twitter:

Yeah, and honestly I don’t know much about how these stuff work but I assumed Biden would be a good candidate to win the moderate conservative vote. But yeah, American politics is a mind field

Yes, “a large unchartered landscape of thought” (―unchartered meaning unexplored, owned by no one, or both―), but also a place where you might well get your mind blown, and where you need to keep your wits about you, being mindful or minding what you’re doing in order to escape unscathed. Also here and here ; this is also revelant .

*If the human mind were simple enough for us to understand,
we would be too simple-minded to understand it* .

(Possible Corollary: it is, and we are .)
