"Cultimating" for culminating

From a comment on Aeon:

in what context to explore value besides that of science? My choice is, recall about past experiences. That is likely to focus on previous peak and cultimating experiences (re Kahneman).

Cultimating in is an unusually common blend. There are about 180 raw hits on google. It could arise from a little prestidigitation of the letters of culminating to develop toward the ultimate endpoint.

Re: "Cultimating" for culminating

I think the capital is the name given to the culmination of a column. Or do columns culminate in the glorioso general on his warhorse. The orderly progression and achievement of one column or another must be at work in the image of a columnation.

It takes everything both good and bad about Visual Novels but ultimately columnating in a hot mess that is impossible to experience properly in any other medium, while being so convoluted and ridiculous that one has to willingly accept its flaws to enjoy the work.
fanfic criticism

Hearts and Minds remains a brutal, eye opening piece that mixes 60s style direct cinema with honest and balanced interviews columnating in a work of activist non-fiction that falls unapologetically in the anti-war camp.
film criticism

With techniques like this, the child repeatedly has their sense of being an individual crushed, their self-worth devalued into the negative while the praises of consensus by groupthink are sung to them, columnating in that individual child being broken down so completely that the last conscious act of choice they make is to willingly go along with what one may philosophically consider to be their execution by drowning
cultural criticism

Incidentally, more than 200 hits out there for the captical.

Re: "Cultimating" for culminating

There are also quite a number of examples of “cultimated in” for “culminated in.” Dunno. The first “t” could be an anticipation error for the second /t/ phoneme. But there are SO many examples. Dozens of them have made it into published books, many of them presumably copyedited. Like you, David, I suspect more that there is more to the transformation than phonology can explain. The semantic pull of the embedded “ultimate” in “cultimate” could be part of the explanation.

There could also be an influence from “culture” or “cultivate” in that one.
