'exceleration' for 'acceleration'

acceleration 36,100,000 ghits
exceleration 19,500 ghits
excelleration 14,000 ghits

Spotted on eBay. Yes, I was looking at the cars. If we take ‘excel’ to mean to rise above, or surpass, ‘exceleration’ could conceivably be an eggcorn of ‘acceleration’, perhaps aided by an expression like “exceeding the speed limit”?

Re: 'exceleration' for 'acceleration'

This one is apt, in someone’s mind at least. From a nostalgia fb group:

I started there in 1963. I remember Mrs. Wilson in grade 1, then Miss Redberger, Mrs Lamb, Mrs. Hancheroff and Mr. Job. I was also in the excellerated program. Mr. Thompson was principal and Mrs.Pierce was vice-principal. Such a long time ago!
