It’s assumed the Magnons are in need of a prefix and ‘Cro-’ isn’t a good English one; ‘Pro is the nearest available. The substitution is especially Eggcornish when ‘Pro-magnon’ is used as an adjective. To be Pro-magnon is to favor primitivism and brutaliy. About 400 ghits:
