I’m prone to believe that the use of “promotion” in place of “premonition” is probably not an eggcorn since the literal meaning of “promotion” is not what the utterer intends.
However, the quote you provide does serve as a rather amusing malapropism! The notion that someone dies and receives a promotion in doing so is certainly the type of humor one finds in the best of malapropisms! (Even if this interpretation isn’t in precise keeping with the context you provide).
So, to conclude: Congratulations on locating a marvelously funny malapropism!
