"heywhy" for "haywire"

‘Haywire’ means, roughly, ‘out of control’ and originates from the springy, poor quality wire used to tie bales of hay. If you didn’t know that, I suppose it is possible you might imagine the term was a contraction of, “Hey! why ….?” or something along those lines.
I’m not convinced. I can find only two examples too:
