"Dribble" for "drivel"

My wife has just pointed out that some people are now using the word “dribble” when they mean (or would normally mean) “drivel.” In some cases, I suppose the switch may be deliberate (especially if followed by an emoticon or parenthetical word(s) indicating that it was deliberate), but others seem just to be hearing “dribble” when “dribble” is spoken.
