This one never fails to puzzle me. It has been a regular distraction at business presentations for at least a decade and has finally driven me to seek out this forum.

Is it something you’re seeing in text or hearing? I’m just thinking that if one were to say, “That is specific” it might be heard the way you describe because many speakers don’t properly enunciate duplicate sounds between words.
