Miss New Orleans

I am quite fond of the misquote of the Louis Armstrong song “Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans” as “Do you know what it means to be Miss New Orleans”. Sadly old Satchmo never had that honour, though I like to imagine him with a far away look in his eyes as he sings it.

There are quite a few examples on the web.

Re: Miss New Orleans

Misheard lyrics fall into a category known as Mondegreens. Personally, I would consider them eggcorns, but they have long had a category of their own.
