This mistake seems to be very common – there are several websites that use the phrase as their domain name – as well as thousands of instances of it on the web. But is it an eggcorn? The difference between an illusion and a delusion seems to be that an illusion exists in its own right, but a delusion requires the interaction (in the form of misuunderstanding) on the part of the ‘deludee’. Could anyone offer any thoughts or clarifications?

By the way, I did run a search but couldn’t find this in the database, so apologies if this has been discussed previously :-)
