It may be that the acting profession does not enjoy the respect it deserves and that the execution of that craft has, in the popular imagination, a tendency to attract shallow, neurotic, egotistical folk who may be prone to hysterical, disproportionate responses to situations and supposed provocations which we mere audience-fodder would take in our stride. Whether this is so or not, I can see why so many people might imagine that ‘histrionics’ is ‘hystrionics’ and I submit it as yet another in a series of partial- eggcorns that could continue indefinitely even…
I usually decline a response to hystrionics, but since you are begging the issue, I will make an exception; if only for entertainment value. ...

Charming find, Peter! It inspired me to see whether there were any blends out there. Sure enough. “Hysterionics” sounds like the study of hissyfits in robots. Over 500 raw ghits for that, and about 175 for “histerionics.” I like also like the strong dose of South African English in the first citation below. Examples:
Jammer boetie/sussie (because i suspect you are a woman), but you are what we souties call a “scare monger” and i have zero time for hysterionics.

This from a man who enjoys spending 90 agonisingly boring minutes of hysterionics, primadonnas and the arbitrary application of the offside rule spoiling any moments of interest, to witness a nil-all draw!

Matthew Yglesias has a great satire on the hysterionics in the MSM about blogging:

Maybe it wasn’t treated with the respect that WEG believed it deserved, but Lovely’s just like that, citizens generally make jokes of everything, and her hysterionics only wound people up and put them on edge like fingernails going down a blackboard.

This album makes the TR series by virtue of the fact that (i) it includes remakes of two “art rock” standards, and (ii) the fact that many of the lyrical and vocal hysterionics reminded me of Peter Hammill (this is not to suggest that Murphy was influenced by Hammill; I am simply noting a similarity).
