I remember a girl at school writing this on my work after we had to do a critique of each others essays and thought it was funny at the time. Now I have finally found a word for this sort of misundertanding.
I think it fits well into the eggcorn catagory, since there is no reason that if you had only ever heard the phrase that you would think you were doing anything wrong. The point of a point of view is that it comes from you, so the misundestanding it easy.
I googled “in my point of you” and it came up with 2070 entries including this one, my favourite one discussing the best way to tackle english oral exams. http://www.englishpage.com/forums/showt … hp?t=3430. Please have a look at this I’m not sure if its a mick take, but it is brilliant.
