and then checked via Google (about 28 results as of this writing, 75% seem to be the eggcorn). It seems uncommon, but more common than I would have expected. I’m also guessing this is not a typo, as in Qwerty “k” and “g” are on opposite hands.

I was quite surprised to learn that the original expression is “you’ve got another think coming” —rather than with “thing” substituted.
Even so, the eggcorn which you suggest is an alteration in the opposite direction. I think we’ve been finding a lot of this lately.
