It’s addictive, isn’t it. Spurred on by my success with “free for all”, I googled “expressions”, found Swithenbank’s list

“Go AWOL” – now, what could people think that is. “Go a wall”?
Yup. Googling (also Groups-Googling) that and “went a wall” produces a fine crop.
What else? “Go avail”? Hmm. A few, plus lots of other odd uses of “avail”. There’s a few “went avails” as well, most of which are unfathomable. Any idea what those people mean?
“Go hay wall”? Of course.
“Go eyewall”? A tad outlandish, I know, but there does appear to be one example!
