Perhaps something done without enthusiasm, as a matter of course, may be the origin of this variant of ‘cursory’. In my native dialect ‘cursory’ might be pronounced as ‘coursery’ but as, I suspect, this is far from widespread I have some difficulty in imagining a reason for coursery’s existence. (I’ve just found the final example though, which seems to suggest that ‘cursory’ and ‘coursery’ were once one and the same…)
