brass relief for bas relief

The following paragraph is from a monthly newsletter for a gated community in Florida. A new firehouse has just opened a short distance from the community.

“Fire Chief Ridgeway proudly showed off memorabilia donated by RiverWalk CERT and residents which will be displayed at the station. These include a brass-relief plaque that is mounted on the wall facing the front doors. ...”

Google returns about 700 hits on “brass-relief”. “Bas-relief” (from the French “low relief”) is the original form, but judging from some of the things Google finds, “brass-relief” has entered the language.
