Welcome to the Eggcorn website Swins.
What you’ve located almost sounds like a malapropism because “mahogany” seems to be completely ludicrous in that usage. But then I started thinking… Why would someone use such an expression if it didn’t have some sense to it? To only reason I could imagine is that people sometimes use what they think are idioms and give up on any attempt to make sense of them.
But even so, now I’m wondering… If the person literally meant “mahogany” and had some particular image associated with it, what image might that be? Any ideas?
