This odd word combines ‘semantics’ and ‘sermon.’ Semantics, in the colloquial sense, is an excessive concern with the proper form of expression. Like sermonizing, it connotes a preachy and self-righteous attitude, making the combination a natural. 180+ ghits, e.g.,
