'whistle and dixie' for 'whistlin' Dixie'

I imagined I might find someone who thought it was the dixie that whistled but so far I’ve failed. This variant did crop up however and it’s interesting to ponder alternative imagery, if any. The best I can come up with is that they might be articles from an outback survival pack…
