intents and purposes << intensive purposes

Found this in an online newspaper article: … 88171.html

“Now that we have 10-trip saver tickets winding up, effectively on Sunday night for all intensive purposes, we are going to have many thousands of people move across to the go card,” Mr Nicholls said.

Anyone else seen this?

Re: intents and purposes << intensive purposes

Yes, this is a real one, and a good one. It’s been reported on the site

Back in my college days, a friend used to say “to all intensive purposes…” I have a lot more; I’ll be back… 61. Commentary by Alex Smaliy , 2005/02/25 at … –

But there’s something cool about spotting one that you don’t lose just cause somebody else saw it too.

*If the human mind were simple enough for us to understand,
we would be too simple-minded to understand it* .

(Possible Corollary: it is, and we are .)

Here’s the one I found on a polyamory page on Facebook today:

I am a single mother of two so for all intensive purposes I am a Unicorn.
