'tied eyed' for 'tie dyed'

Pat already discovered ‘Thai dyed.” I’m not sure this is meaningful, but I will observe that a skillful tie-dyer can create radially symmetric patterns that look sorta like eyes.

Re: 'tied eyed' for 'tie dyed'

Makes sense to me. They do look sort of like eyes, and they are formed by being tied.

It wouldn’t be very easy to type it this way without having shifted the imagery, seems to me.

I’d say it’s a very likely one, but absent a confession from a perp, not 100% sure.

Re: 'tied eyed' for 'tie dyed'

I hear a slight echo of getter better, handing holding etc. in tied eyed. Of course the /d/ sound in the original comes from dyed, but the GetterBetter phenomenon gives is a place to “move” to in the reshaping.

Serendipitously, I’m working for a small tie-dye company which, while based in Northern California, has the actual dyeing done by employees in Thailand. So, our items are indeed Thai dyed!
