pastry-faced

I guess this is what happens to a “doughy complexion” after a bit of sun. A bit over 100 hits for this, compared to 78,300 for “pasty-faced.” Examples

Just check the primary turnout in 11, 13, 19, 23 and 36 for the last decade. It’s why we have the dishonest pastry-faced judiciary we have.

I am fragile with white hair, I dream often of windows, thousands of windows filled with those pastry-faced children, red tags flutter from their arms.

Milosevic today has even less reason to give ground than he did yesterday; this afternoon, even the pastry-faced dullard Chernomyrdin, whose best friend is Al Gore, showed hostility to the hapless Strobe Talbott, promising him that Russia would pull out of the peacemaking unless the bombing stopped.

Anyone who’s been to a gig or club night in the last, say, hundred years or so, will have run the gauntlet of pastry faced youngsters thrusting Giant Oaks worth of tatty bits of paper into your hands.

Re: pastry-faced

I am new here. If I should not be asking, please let me know.

PASTRY-FACED obviously either is an intentional joke, or an eggcorn, no? Do you question its eggcornity because it is a writing-generated mistake, rather than a pure conceptual mistake? I do not get it. Please educate me.

Re: pastry-faced

To consider this an eggcorn, I’d have to believe that the writers actually felt that the people they were describing looked like pastry in some way. I guess that MAY be possible—they may have been thinking of the doughy paleness of the pastry before it was baked. But that seemed like a bit of a stretch to me, and I couldn’t find clear evidence, so I stuck it on the Malapropisms, etc page instead.
