My mom, who was actively hunting eggcorns before the term was coined (and who still does not use it, instead sending me e-mails labeled “What they thought they heard”), just sent me this one.
She’s a member of an online group called DesMoinesIAMetroReUseIt@yahoo.com.
Subject: [DesMoinesIAMetroReUseIt] Wanted: Travis Rods
I need travis rods, size 9 ft long, and 8’ long. These are going in a
room for a disabled older lady.We have the curtains and hooks. Just
need the rods. Thanks
I found it other places as well. (found a few Rod Travises as well, and a fishing story w/ Troy & Travis, and a mixed up fishing rod)

I’m not really sure what the alternate imagery would be; maybe they think it’s named after somebody? (like Lehman’s terms, or portland cement) Even though they don’t usu. cap it, they may think it’s named after a person and has been round so long it lost the capital letter, like french fries

IMO… If “Lehman’s terms” is an eggcorn, then—by the same token—so too would be “Travis rods.”
