"Slap-dish" for slapdash

“Slapdash” means in a hasty, careless way. Slapdish seems to draw flavours from all over: slapdash, slipshod, slapstick, and “dish up”.

Military strategy forum:
Russian space gear—particularly engines—is quite good. Errors with this stuff tends to be, well, painful and therefore the old socialist slap dish approach did not go so well. (http://www.strategypage.com/militaryforums/47-1179.aspx)

Film review:
In summation, then, this is not “The Cardinal of the Kremlin” or “The Sum of All Fears.” It’s a second rate slap-dish techno-thriller that isn’t particularly thrilling.

Resto blog:
Another slap dish recipe from Cafe Drake, this little gem (modesty be damned) was concocted tonight in our home as a light autumn rain fell outside the kitchen windows.

Animated film review:
Docter rolled another, but much shorter, clip of the Boy Scout and Carl walking in the jungle pulling the floating house above them. It’s essentially a scene of slap-dish comedy as the Boy Scout gets distracted, unstraps himself from the house, and Carl starts to float away. Quite amusing.

Dishing about restaurants:
They have great vegetarian options too. Sure, I had to wait a little long for my to-go order (10 minutes) but it’s lamb, you know. I don’t really want them being slap-dish with red meats, right? (http://www.yelp.com/biz/sams-cafe-kabob-berkeley)

Re: "Slap-dish" for slapdash

Your post sent me looking for “slack-dash,” which never seems to have been posted before. Works pretty well as an eggcorn – that idea of “slackness” fits nicely. Below I give about half of all the citations I found (the originals of a couple of the best examples are password-protected, unfortunately):

You can be slack dash and just within limits all the time and not get a single bad word if your RT is spot on.

After dominating and somehow not scoring in golden goal time, slack dash defending alouded Fatasskiss to score.

[Yeah, I know, that “alouded” is just beautiful, but I can’t convince myself there’s anything eggcornish about it.]

Update- added a slack-dash alternate PL winshade.

more like slackdash censorship

I tried to run NY with a slack-dash approach to training and blew up.

[The author is talking about preparing for the NY Marathon, so there’s a possibility this is a pun, but I don’t think so.]

I’ll bet there are some more variations out there just waiting for us. And I found a few malapropic uses of “slapstick” for “slapdash” – though when the substitution happens in reviews, it’s hard to say whether it’s punning or not.

Re: "Slap-dish" for slapdash

Slap-dish brings to mind the old pie-in-the-face slapstick routine: you slap a dish of custard into someone’s face.
.
Slack-dash is a better eggcorn, but both are fun.

we would be too simple-minded to understand it* .
