'suffering remedy' for 'sovereign remedy'

The term ‘sovereign remedy’ means “potent to a high degree” and has been in use since 1377. ‘Suffering remedy’, or as many of us might pronounce it, sufferin’ remedy, seems a little odd as surely all remedies are for relief of pain or illness. Anyone unfamiliar with ‘sovereign’ might reasonably eggcornify the expression into ‘suffering remedy’ but I submit this with no great confidence:

... they have been home from the sanatorium but still receiving suffering remedy each 4 hours and still has crispness or breath. Can the cancer come back? .

Those who have some-more suffering can make make use of of prescribed suffering remedy in sequence to assuage the discomfort. ...

... as if he was revelation her “alright if you think you do not wish any suffering remedy you go forward and try it for a night and see what happens. ...
