Backhole for backhoe as in "John Deere tractor backhole loader"

I may have thought it was a “backhole” too, the first time I heard of such a machine.

An astoundingly common eggcorn. Nothing like a pair of fresh eyes to notice the obvious.

Several companies doing backhoe work advertise themselves as XXX Backhole Company and XXX Backhole Services. Is “backhole” so established in everyday speech that the customers of these companies can’t point them to the correct term?

Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.
