Haughty grew out of M.E. haute for high in one’s own steam. According to raw Google figures, and not surprisingly given the nature of the web, hottie has 5 times as many hits, and hotty about a third as many. No surprise either, then, that there are a few hundred hottie attitude s and 15 hotty attitude s identified on the web. Three of these five examples indicate that the attitude is based on attractiveness. Hotty and overbaring, I guess.

Perhaps the person who utters “hotty attitude” is thinking that “hotty” means “someone who thinks s/he is hot stuff.”
