dribble for drivel

I originally saw this use in Second Life and a couple of days later heard it in a real life conversation. A google search for “hear your dribble” show 58,500 results, so it seems to be pretty well established in the language.
The first google result is from 3 years ago: “When are you going to realize that you are losing, your party is in chaos, and the majority of america doesn’t to care to hear your dribble anymore.”

Re: dribble for drivel

Hi, rhickock, welcome to the forum.

“Dribble” for “drivel” has often been discussed in this forum (see http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=644 and http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/forum/view … hp?id=2003). It’s a classic eggcorn that has not made it into our database.

The idiomatic “mindless dribble” has also been reported (http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/forum/view … hp?id=1187). Recently another funny variation of “mindless drivel,” “mindless drizzle,” also came to the attention of the forum (http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/forum/view … hp?id=2612).

Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.
