"be brief" for debrief

I’ll be brief. I’ll be brief you. At the be briefing.

A be briefing seems to be a semi-eggcorn semi-blend between debriefing, briefing, and “to be brief.” Briefings and debriefings gained popularity in World War II. A debriefing is an account of the results of your mission, to your higher-ups. Most, though not all, examples of “be brief” as a compound verb seem to mean rather “brief” as a verb.
