'crumbet' for 'crumpet'

Crumpets generate crumbs when you eat them, so it’s natural to think there’s a ‘crumb’ in ‘crumpet.’ But there isn’t; the etymologies are distinct. Examples:

A crumbet. Wouldn’t that make a primo synonym for an eggcorn? Tea and Crumbets would also be a perfect handle for a British rock band.

Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.

Re: 'crumbet' for 'crumpet'

Tee and the Crumpets were a San Francisco band from the early oughts; they seem to have broken up. (Their album was okay, but I can’t really get enthusiastic about it.) I think you’d have to live outside Britain to name your band after tea and crumpets—otherwise, it’d be like wearing a t-shirt with a picture of the Golden Gate on it while living in San Francisco, and that’s just not done.
