I tore my rotator cup

I was pretty sure this was supposed to be “rotator cuff” when I first saw it, but had to track down this orthopedics webpage to be sure:
http://orthopedics.about.com/od/rotator … orcuff.htm

The author of the page also cites “rotary cup” and “rotor cup” as common errors.

I’m assuming the visualization here is of the ball and socket joint associated with the shoulder, as opposed to the cuff of four surrounding muscles which is actually what tears.

Here’s a few sightings in the wild…

“I think I may have damaged my rotator cup, anyone have this happen or know how long it takes to repair?” http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index … 6050315052

“MY girlfriends father recently tore his rotator cup at work and went to the doctor. After an MRI and a talk with his employer, they told him he would only receive a standard 2 weeks of workman’s compensation.” http://www.workerscompensationinsurance … hp?t=37241

Re: I tore my rotator cup

Works for me—a nice find. I’m kicking myself for not getting there first since I personally have produced “rotator cusp.” I’m not alone—Google returns 105 unique ghits for that variant.
