"rump in the hay" for romp in the hay

Venus and Mars
He does not necessarily return her love with the same relationship changes because believe it or not some men still think that a sign of their love is a rump in the hay. Men play with women’s feelings also to get to that rump in the hay.

Online fiction
She would have liked him for rump in the hay, but not with his dark inclinations and the black briefcase, no.

I don’t know if the hindquarters were specifically being invoked here but it seems like an understandable error.

Another nice find, and since there are another 40 or so examples it may be misplaced here among the ‘slips’.

One for the end-of-the-year lists.
.
There are a couple of ghits for a rut in the hay; I wondered if the word “rut(ting)” might have some sort of sub-libidal Freudian-slip (or lack thereof) effect.

Sex with a little mystery and discovery is a lot more fun and interesting than a clinical rut in the hay

Yes, David Tuggy, good to hear from you again. Does this mean the book is done?

I wish. No, this was a daughter’s wedding with attendant family reunion, boocoo miles (try 5000 driving with 5 grandkids under age 8, in this age of mandatory carseats), an unexpected (but enjoyable) arm-twisted teaching assignment for a semester in Peru (where I am at the moment), and laziness in the wake of getting way behind on email etc. And —a little progress on the book.
.
btw I bought Kem’s Next Generation Gap book and have enjoyed it. Be fun to see how near the mark he is.
