Strangely confusing and redundantly repetitive sign

I saw a sign on a wall the other day, declaring that in front of the building was a “smokeless free zone area”.

This was in England, not abroad where they speak foreign languages like in the US ;-)

I have no idea which part of the mix up came first; the redundancy just added the icing on the cake for me.

I also wonder at signwriters who are happy to take someone’s money and create things like this with no thought to advise them of their errors (assuming they even noticed of course).

Anyone else seen anything cringeworthy lately?

Hi, all you all-timers, sorry to have been a-wall for the last few months—they’ve been pretty amazing (but very good). I’m still going to be indulging in semi-lurkitude and will probably never get all the back posts read, but will drop in from time to time.
