In tact marriage for intact marriage

The example I came across, on a listserv: “I will fight and work hard to keep my marriage in tact.” I like the idea that tact is helpful for an intact marriage. Discretion is the better part of valor, etc.

This is example is great: “How do you survive the holidays and keep relationships in tact?” http://recordings.talkshoe.com/rss20440.xml

And then: “Many straight women have dealth with their straight husbands girlfriends and have remained friends and have a working in tact marriage.” http://lesbianlife.about.com/b/2006/02/ … -story.htm

Good eye, Sarazi. This is a nice addition to a series of posts reporting on the confusion around tact/tacked and tract/tracked. The connection between “tact” and and an intact marriage is a natural.

Related posts: in tacked and tact for tack.

Recent examples:

It seems the people who try to do things “morally” correct, try to keep the original marriage in tacked for the children’s sake, and when that attempt fails you try to go on and do the best you can.

After a year and a half we have traveled through 30 States. Picked up a stray dog and even kept our marriage in tack... : )
