Eggcorns and other intriguing uses of language seem magnetically attracted to certain areas – car ads, for example. Where else would you find a sentence like “Stern seals puff a bit on start up” or “The lips of the arches are crusty” or “Wants its gone its gone!”
A condition ‘commensurate with age’ suggests a degree of wear which corresponds to its vintage, whereas the ‘consumerate’ version seems to indicate how much of it has been used up by the user or consumer:

As a rule, I never take my car to a mechanic who can spell. The best mechanics do not clutter their head with issues of literature and language. The person you let under the hood (bonnet) of your car should think that a hypnagogic jerk is a vile magician.

Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.

Yet some excellent gems have been collected for me by my brother Fred, who is a(n excellent) mechanic. It was in one of his manuals that he showed me the wonderful compound noun “torsion bar control arm spring anchor housing”, for instance.

The “consumer” imagery doesn’t make so much sense to me. Perhaps we might entertain a different parsing…
con- sum- -erate
For me, the parts/usage hints at “by way of summing up…”
