Heard tonight, from a fellow we gave a lift to: “It’s just happenskance.”
Is this some kind of word/idiom blend? “Happenstance,” referring to something accidental, altered with…what? “Scance/askance?” Could looking at something in an incidental way be similar to the serendipity of happenstance? Or is it a blend with “scant:” i.e., something in small supply being like something that just happens?
Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.

Scant chance, don’t you think? ( Happenchance still happens too.)
