“Hardened fast” is a perfectly legitimate phrase in its own right, but you’re pretty clearly dealing with the reshaping when it’s followed by “rule,” “limit,” “date,” “standard,” etc. There are at least dozens of examples, if not hundreds. “Hard and fast” means “rigidly fixed”; “hardened fast” means almost the same thing – I’m actually surprised this isn’t more common as a substitution. Examples:
Dr. Hunter added that she thinks this needs to be a guideline and not a hardened fast rule.

Dr. White thinks that it would be wrong for a doctor or counselor to have a hardened fast rule when it comes to treating marriages.

I would be surprised if you could find any hardened fast rule or formula
for calculating the cost.

But Christ’s answer lifts the answer completely beyond any hardened fast limit when He said, “Seventy times seven.”

The only thing I can think that might change, if the US has now given a hardened fast date for compliance that possibly the Arab league of Nation might up the push to force Saddam into exhile to prevent all out war in the region.

Pat beat me to the punch(bowl) by a mere 6 and a half years.
This is a transitional form: harden fast – like epoxy. And then hard and vast, which makes for a pretty impressive rule (if it’s not a typo).
at my company, we do not allow for modifications of standard objects aside from the user exits within SD. This is not a harden fast rule, but a preference.
