Animation CELL (cel)

An animation “cel” is short for the trademark Celluloid—which, in turn, is a reference to the cellulose-based material used to produce it. Since the images on these cels appear to be contained within a box, it is not unexpected that the cel may be perceived as a cell … or a compartment. (Unfortunately for us eggcorn hunters, Celluloid contains two Ls, so it is difficult to verify whether the spelling isn’t just some variant truncation).

Adobe photoshop layersyou will color under, kinda like the way you would color in an animation cell. Before you start, you might want to clean up your image a little.

Pokemopolis – ‘cause Pokemon is NOT a Childrens Cartoon
You could dismiss it as just a random quirk of one cell of animation requiring this particular pose, or just animators giving their fanboys a little thrill.
