"unexpectantly" for "unexpectedly"

From an online chat I saw today: ”...landing on your head unexpectantly”

Just a simple misusage. I’m sure it’s not an eggcorn; the meaning doesn’t seem to be there. Sort of amusing, though, and it’s one I’ve never seen, nor has it been mentioned hereon before.

Re: "unexpectantly" for "unexpectedly"

I can confirm that this one exists:

[from a church bulletin] Lew Wayburn’s father unexpectantly passed away early this morning after being admitted to the hospital on Sunday.

I figured this means Lew’s father was not pregnant at the time. After all (round-tripping):

[sign by parking space] For Expected Mothers

There are other – ed/-ant switches out there as well. It would take special circumstances for them to be eggcornish, but it seems probable that a case or two might be among them. For instance, I suppose that Expected Mothers might be women who others expect will be mothers within a few months, rather than women who are expecting babies.

And then there are expectorant mothers. Like the folks in the first citation, I too think it’s a good idea to keep people who spit all the time off amusement park rides. Spellcheckers are the likely culprit here.

Persons with back, neck or heart problems and expectorant mothers must not use this ride.

[The document has many instances of “expectant” and at least two of “expectorant.” Stay off the ride if you’ve got a heart problem and a mom who spits a lot.]

In traditional Indian households, used for the expectorant mother.

[We’re talking about traditional uses of about coconut here.]
