"gobbled" for garbled

Garbled appears to be a simple word, perhaps related to “garbage”, but in reality it has an interesting pedigree tracing back to an Arabic word related to the sifting and selection of spices, and is a cognate of the word crisis. Those who understand garbled text as gobbled text must be thinking that its message has bites taken out of it. It has lost its shape through mastication.

Security forum
If you’re truly paranoid you could open a text document and type a long string of gobbled text (with the keyboard or onscreen keyboard) with your password somewhere in the middle.

Software support forum
Some text links from the page can be recognized using the toolkit with no problems whereas others return gobbled text.
