Daunting and taunting

“Finding the best rental information has become a taunting task these days.

is a taunting task as syllables signal in connected speech

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski (pictured) said reaching the plan’s aims would be a taunting task”

and many others, including lots of ‘taunted by the prospect’. I suppose there are some substitutions of ‘daunt’ for ‘taunt’ out there but it’s harder to prove: people who are taunted tend to be daunted as well.

Right now, I can’t think of a fixed expression containing ‘taunt’ to check if ‘daunt’ has been used in its place. Any ideas?

The usual apologies if this has been spotted before. I rather suspect it will have.

Cooking software
Cooking for 30 people can be a dawning task do you know what i mean?

No, I don’t, not exactly. Perhaps it only dawns on you just what you’ve got yourself into when it too late to get out. Or the task has not yet finished growing; it’s going to be big, but now it’s dawning. Several dozen of these.
