account vs a count

I can’t believe that there has been no mention of “take into a count”. So there probably has, even though I can’t find it.

Re: account vs a count

Works for me (as long as the count is of the numerical rather than the noble variety).

Re: account vs a count

At some point—long ago—there were a few eggcorns tossed around which had the “a-” to “a” reshaping, and it seemed pretty hard to offer up a comprehensive list. (This might’ve been around the same time that we were discussing how some reshapings are simply the selection of the wrong prefix … and so further searching seemed discouraged). Even so, we could certainly look at “account”/”a count” on it’s own merits since there is a significant drift of meaning involved.
