doll rod / dowel rod

For those people who monophthongize /aw/ before L, doll = dowel. “Dowel” isn’t a common word so I can see why people might substitute “doll”. Not sure if this is an eggcorn but it’s all over the place (including in the name of a rock band).

Some citations:
“Paint your wand (doll rod) first in one or two steps.”

“To prevent the wick from falling into the mold while pouring the wax, loop the wick a few times around the wick holder and secure in place with a clamp-style clothes pin, or tie a slip knot, or simply tie the wick to a pencil or doll rod.”
http://www.peacefulharmony.org/articles … candle.htm

“House doc is correct go get some doll rod and tap it in cut it flush and your in business. You don’t see doll rod as much these days since biskets came on the market .”
