Squirmish for Squeamish

This seems to have uses as an alternative (spelling?) to skirmish. (again with the “urban” thing) but…..

I first noticed it when a radio announcer used it, obviously meaning squeamish.

How Squirmish are you? Quiz

Don’t read this story if squirmish

Not sure why selling (unspecified object) would make you squirmish but…...

Handling pigs ears can make you squirmish

Although this word does seem to have mixed usage, I would have thought it qualified as an eggcorn because I can well see why somebody would relate “squirming” to being “squeamish”. I’m picking a big future for squirmish.

Oh, and apologies if this one has already appeared. I did search and came up empty. (although I did find the delicious alternative “screamish”. hee hee)

Re: Squirmish for Squeamish

It’s a good one, and it’s in the Database: http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/english/664/squirmish/.

The Search button at the top of this page only searches forum entries; to search everything on the site, you can use the second search button on the Database homepage, off to the right.
